Obituary of Jean Marie Carlson

CARLSON, JEAN MARIE (April 11, 1946 ? April 13, 2005)Wife of Walter of Gondola Point, NB - after courageously coping with MS for over 20 years and a recent devastating diagnosis of cancer, progressed to her well deserved eternal peace on 13th day of April 2005. Born in Saint John, NB she was the daughter of Lorraine McGrath and the late William McGrath. Besides her loving husband Walter, she is survived by her son Paul and daughter Krista; mother Lorraine McGrath; brothers, Alvin and Kevin McGrath; sisters, Anne Campbell and Irene Aspen and several nieces and nephews. Jean retired from the NB Liquor Corporation in 1992 where she also served as Recording Secretary for CUPE Local 963. She was a former member of both Silver Falls United and Glen View United Churches where she got great pleasure out of teaching Sunday school for the younger children. Jean enjoyed the simple pleasures in life - watching figure skating on TV, chatting with her mother on the phone on a Saturday afternoon, having her nails painted by her daughter Krista, enjoying a home-cooked meal made by her son Paul. There is a lesson for all of us to learn from her about enjoying the simple things in life. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (506 - 634 ? 7424) from where the visitation will be held on Thursday and Friday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 pm. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 16th from Brenan's Chapel at 10 A.M with interment to follow at Fernhill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations to the MS Society, the Palliative Care Unit of AHSC or the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family. A huge thanks from the family to the staff and volunteers of the Palliative Care Unit of AHSC ? Saint John for the care and attention given to Jean and her family in difficult times.
