Obituary of Irene Mary Van Wart

The death of Irene Mary Van Wart of Spruce Street, Rothesay, NB, occurred on Monday, April 18, 2005 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John, she was the daughter of the late Edward J. and Adeline (Vautour) Gogan. Irene was employed with the New Brunswick Liquor Corp. for over 20 years before her retirement. She was a past honorary member of the Fire Fighter's Ladies Auxiliary, taught Sunday School, was an honorary member of the H. A. Cody Branch of the Women's Guild of St. James Church, Broad Street and was a member of the Mother's Den Cub Committee at St. Jude's Church. Mrs. Van Wart volunteered at the Barracks and the DVA during World War II and in later years with the Salvation Army and Red Cross. She is survived by two sons, Wesley E. Van Wart (Connie White) and Blaine L. Van Wart (Colleen), one daughter, Deborah L. McAulay (Jack), all of Saint John, three brothers, Joseph E. Gogan, Francis J. Gogan (Mary) and David J. Gogan (Claire) all of Saint John, one sister, Alma Melvin (Ronald) of Bathurst, brother-in-law, Sandy Parkhill of Calibogie, ON, six grandchildren, Kristine Cormier (Robert), Thomas Van Wart, Kathleen “Katie” Van Wart, Michael Van Wart, Gregory Van Wart and Rachel Van Wart, two great grandchildren, Moira and Riley Cormier, special niece, Donna Melvin, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one son, Lloyd E. Van Wart Jr., her former husband Capt. Lloyd E. Van Wart and one sister, Barbara Ann Parkhill. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Tuesday 7-9 PM and Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church, Milford Road, on Thursday, April 21, 2005 at 10:00 AM. Interment in Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances to the Canadian Diabetes Association, the Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick, the Children's Wish Foundation or the charity of the donors' choice would be appreciated.
