Obituary of Murray Stephen Linton

Linton, Murray Stephen ? The death of Murray Stephen Linton occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital, after a brief illness, on January 7, 2005 at the age of 90. He was born in Fairville, NB, son of the late Martha and Samuel Linton. He is survived by his wife Thelma, of 61 years, and beloved children Robert, Elizabeth (John O'Donoghue), Murray, Gwen, and Phillip (Kim). He also is survived by several nieces and nephews. He retired from the Canadian Pacific Railway in 1979. In his younger years he had a large Market Garden providing produce to the local stores. In his later years he had a small garden and hothouse that gave him much pleasure. He enjoyed sharing the vegetables and flowers with his friends. He was a member of Portland United Church and very interested in the restoration of the stained glass windows. Murray was the last surviving member of his family ? predeceased by brother Wendell, sisters Alice, Ruth Brenan, Bertha Mayes, Dorothy Lingley and Margaret Redding. Visitation with Murray's family will take place at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506-634-7424) on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A memorial service will be held from Portland United Church, Newport Crescent, on Monday at ll:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to a charity of the donor's choice or the Portland United Church Stained Glass Window Restoration Fund. Special thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff of 4 B North and the Emergency Department for their kind and thoughtful care.
