Obituary of Marjorie Patricia PARK

July 22nd, 1913 ? August 23rd, 2005, died at the St. John and St. Stephen Church Home after a period of failing health. She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Ronald, two children Judith Stiles (Dr. Gerald) of Saint John and Ian Park (Dr. Claudine Lowry) of Dartmouth, and one grandson Nigel Park (Jolene) of Dartmouth. Of Scottish and Prince Edward Island ancestry, Pat was brought up in Moncton NB where she met Ronald, her husband-to-be, an Englishman and Royal Air force officer, at the RAF base in Moncton in July 1942. They had a whirlwind courtship, which Ronald recorded in his hundreds of wonderful photographs and they were married on Christmas Eve 1942. The couple moved to England for two years before returning to Saint John where they raised their two children Judith and Ian. Pat devoted a great deal of her time to Anglican Church activities at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Lancaster. After her children left home, she developed her love of art and became a talented painter, studying with her dear friend Robert Percival and also with Ray Butler, both of whom influenced her work and contributed to her passion for her art. Many family and friends treasure her paintings, which she generously gave them. When her health and her eyesight failed, she moved to the St. John and St. Stephen Home in 2002. There will be no visiting and no funeral at the family's request. Cremation will be followed by a private family service officiated by Canon Alvin Westgate who has been a tremendous source of support to Pat and Ron during the past three years. Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424) are in charge of arrangements. Remembrances would be appreciated to the church of St. John the Baptist (Mission Church) or the Church of the Good Shepherd, or a charity of the donor's choice.
