Obituary of Robert Bruce McKim

After a lengthy illness and courageous battle, Robert Bruce McKim, husband of Mona (Rolfe) McKim, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 9, 2004, surrounded by his family. Born in Saint John he was the son of the late George and Marjorie (Harrison) McKim. He was a graduate of Saint John High School and Modern Business College. He served in the Armed Forces with the Royal Canadian Corps of Signals during the Second World War. Besides his wife he is survived by his sons Robert George McKim, Sheila and their daughter Lindsay of Halifax, Andrew Rolfe McKim of Paris, France, his brothers Arthur of Saint John, Jim and John of St. Stephen, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his infant brother Harry and sisters Kathleen McKim and Joan McCabe. For most of his career he served as an Executive in the Moving and Warehousing Industry. He became Manager of the Saint John Branch of Maritime Warehousing and Transfer Co. Ltd. in 1954. At the time of his retirement in 1991 he had become President and General Manager of the company. While in the industry he served for many years as a Director and Treasurer of Allied Van Lines Limited. He was a Past President of the Saint John Kiwanis Club and a founding member and a past president of the Saint John Executives' Association. He was a member of the Union Club, the Riverside Country Club and the Probus Club. He was a lifelong member of Portland United Church serving many terms as a member of the Board of Stewards. By request, there will be no visiting. A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 13, 2004 from Portland United Church at 2:00 pm. Interment in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to Portland United Church or a charity of the donor's choice.
