Obituary of Norman H. Jones

It is with sadness we announce that the death of Norman H. Jones, beloved husband of the late Beatrice M. (Loster) Jones, and treasured companion of Grace Lynch, occurred on November 26, 2004, at the Loch Lomond Villa in his 84th year. Born at Oak Point, NB in 1921, he was the son of the late Ira D. and Eadie P. (Hamilton) Jones. Norman was a veteran of WW II, serving with the RCAF. He resided in Saint John most of his life. Norman began his career as a mechanic with Automotive dealers in Saint John from 1946-1950 and was subsequently employed by the City of Saint John, Maintenance Division for a period of 30 years, retiring as Mechanical Superintendent in 1981. Norman was a member of the Canadian Corps of Commissionaires for several years, past Worshipful Master of Hibernia Lodge #3, F&AM, past treasurer of Local # 18 City of Saint John, former treasurer of the Glen Falls Gems Senior Citizens Club, past president of the City Market Senior Citizens Club, and a member of the City of Saint John Retirees Assn. Norman was an accomplished photographer, having won awards and prizes for his work over a span of 50 years. Norman's dry wit and keen sense of humor will be missed by his friends and family. Besides his wife he was predeceased by his eldest son Wayne A. in 1978. He is survived by his son Iain N. and his wife Connie (Baker) of Halifax, NS, daughter Marion L. and her husband Glen Bain of Woodman's Point, NB, grandsons Cpl. Kye Taylor (Jeanette) of Shilo, Manitoba, and Wayne Jones of Halifax, NS; granddaughter Ashli Taylor of Toronto, Ontario; sisters Rheta Reid of St. Catherines, ON, and Loretta Greenlaw of Quispamsis, NB, and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row (506-634-7424), with visiting on Saturday and Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held on Monday, November, 29, 2004, at 1:00 PM from Brenan's Chapel. Interment will take place at St. Paul's Cemetery, Oak Point, NB. Remembrances in Norman's memory made to Loch Lomond Villa Foundation Inc., Alzheimer Society of Saint John or charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
