Obituary of Helen Margaret Tait

TAIT, H. MARGARET (McCLELLAND)- The death of Helen Margaret Tait, formerly of Victoria Street, Saint John, wife of Norman F. Tait, occurred on Sunday, April 17, 2005 at the Church of St. John and St. Stephen Home. Born in Saint John, she was the daughter of the late David and Mabel (MacQuarrie) McClelland. Mrs. Tait was a graduate of Saint John High School and Saint John Vocational School Business Program. She worked in Cost Accounting at Brown Paper Box Co. and moved on to be a secretary with Eastern Securities. She left work to be at home with her two daughters for a number of years. Upon her return to the business world, Margaret was employed by General Dairies Ltd. as an accountant of the Frozen Food Department, then went on to Baxter Foods supervising the transferred Frozen Food Department until her retirement. In her younger years she was a member of the Ladies' Choral Club and the Carriden Choir. Margaret and Norman Tait were married May 14, 1942 and have two daughters, Heather White (Tom) and Nancy (Tait) Beck, both of Saint John; three grandchildren, Thomas White (Claire), Joan White (Mike Blizzard) and Christopher Beck (Michelle); two great grandchildren, Nicholas Blizzard and Madison Maughan; one sister-in-law, Kay McClelland; and two nephews, Alan (Joan) and Ian (Mim) Fraser. She was predeceased by one brother, Tom McClelland. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held at St. Mark's United Church, Dexter Drive, Saint John West on Thursday, April 21, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. Interment in Fernhill Cemetery. Remembrances to the charity of the donors' choice would be appreciated.
