Obituary of Edith Mae Anderson

In her 100th year, Edith Mae Anderson (Finlay) slipped away peacefully on Friday, March 5, 2004 at the Saint John Regional Hospital after a period of declining health. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert Anderson, loving stepmother of Phyllis Elliot Anderson Rivers, and cherished, as Dede, by her three step-granddaughters ? Sally, Debby, Margot and families. Survived by her loving sister, Louise V. Fowler of Hampton and several nieces, nephews and their families. Predeceased by her parents, sisters ? Margaret, Anne, Hazel, and Greta, and brothers ? Ralph and Harry. Edith will be fondly remembered by those who called the Admiral Beatty Complex their home, where she had resided since 1986. She was known for her almost daily visits to the City Market and Brunswick Square. An outstanding promoter of City Market produce, those who knew her had to have heard of Jeremiah's delicious barbequed chicken. We cherish her memory, remember her unique personality, and the strolls down memory lane with her. We thought the energizer bunny would never tire but earthly breath has ceased. Though Edith (Dede) has gone, she will live on within our hearts and memories. She was a life long member and faithful supporter of St. Mary and St. Bartholomew's Church. Special thanks to the dedicated and considerate staff of 3CS, professional in every way! At her request, there will be no funeral, with private interment in the Charles McKay Finlay family plot in Fernhill Cemetery. Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506) 634-7424 is in charge of funeral arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to the Saint Joseph's Hospital Foundation or a charity of the donor's choice.
