Obituary of Melvin Price Garnett

The death of Melvin Price Garnett of Chase's Special Care Home, Saint John, occurred on Friday, October 3, 2003, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John, on March 10, 1909, he was the son of the late George and Annie (Mitton) Garnett. Mr. Garnett lived most of his life out West and traveled around Canada and Europe, returning to Saint John in 1993. “Doc” Garnett was active in sulky racing and in later years the care and maintenance of horses. He is survived by his only daughter, Nancy White and her husband Norman of Summerville, NB, grandson, Andrew Vautour (Stephanie) of St. Martins, grand daughters, Bobbie Lynn Vautour, Angela White and Ashley White, all of Saint John, great grandchildren, Danielle, Corey and Chantal and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one sister and six brothers. A Graveside service will be held at Mispec Cemetery on Tuesday, October 7, 2003 at 1:00 PM. Donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Multiple Sclerosis Society would be appreciated.
