Obituary of Isobel Veronica Ellis

Isobel Veronica Ellis (formerly McGuinness), beloved wife of Richard Warren Ellis, of Rothesay, passed away on Monday, March, 8, 2004, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Portsmouth, England, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Isobel (Cheetham) Shepherd. Veronica and her first husband, the late Robert McGuinness, lived and raised their family between the Port of Aden, Yemen and the Isle of Wight, UK. In the early 70's, the family emigrated to Rothesay, New Brunswick. Veronica had a zest for life, a passion for people and travel, and a keen sense of humour. She was a vibrant, dedicated homemaker and mother who took great enjoyment in family and friends. Aside from enjoying golf, games of bridge and a good book, she loved to sing and was an active member of the choir of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Rothesay. Besides her husband she is survived by her sons Anthony (Wendy), Halifax, NS; Patrick (Angela), Birmingham, UK; Philip (Darlene), Barrie, ON; Paul (Lucie), Riley Brook, NB; her daughter Margaret (Alex Arnfield), Cumbria, UK; her step-son Timothy Ellis (Gail), Quispamsis; her brother John Shepherd (Janet), Saint John; her granddaughters Samantha, Penelope, Nichola, Shanon, Rachel, Katie, Sophie and Emma; her grandsons Robert, Sean, Andrew and Tyler; and her four nieces and one nephew. She was predeceased by her first husband Robert McGuinness, and her sister Maureen Pedder. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB, (506-634-7424), with visiting on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Following cremation the memorial service will be held for immediate family and friends on Thursday, March, 11, 2004, at 1:00 o'clock, from Brenan's Chapel. Memorial donations to the Alzheimer's Society or the charity of choice would be appreciated.
