Obituary of Raymond Leo Boyce

The sad and unexpected death of Ray Boyce, husband of Pamela M. (Gagnon) Boyce, occurred Friday, March 5, 2004 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born April 29, 1933 in Saint John, NB, Ray was the son of the late Edward and Beatrice (Doiron) Boyce. Ray enjoyed forty years as an employee of Moosehead Breweries, beginning in Maintenance and moving to Brewing and then Stores before retiring in 1998. Ray was a family man and active in Lancaster Minor Hockey as a coach with his children. Ray was a long time member of St. Peter's Catholic Church. Known to his family and many friends as “Ray of Sunshine”, he loved Irish music, old western movies and an adopted herd of deer that came to his yard to feed on apples he put out for them daily. Ray is survived by his wife, Pam; three sons, Gerard (Debbie) of Saint John, Tony (Joan) of Saint John and Chris (Partner, Rueben Armendariz) of Toronto, Ontario; three daughters, Joanne Carr (Clinton) of Quispamsis, NB, Catherine Shannon (Darren Jackson) of St. Stephen, NB and Denise Wiedrick (Bruce) of Greenville, North Carolina; ten grandchildren, Matthew, Ryan, Cathy, Ashley, Joe, Karen, Christopher, Philip, Ellen and Katlyn; four brothers, Edward (Margaret) of Norval, Ontario, Tom (Betty) of Saint John, NB, John (Marilyn) of Saint John and Joe (Rhoda) of Gondola Point, NB; one sister, Sister Mary Ellen Boyce of Halifax, NS; his cousin, Pauline Legere (Shediac, NB); and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his first wife, Cecile (Badeau) Boyce; two sisters, Mary Vaughn (Chapel Grove, NB) and Germaine Badeau (Fredericton, NB) and one grandchild, Elizabeth Boyce. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB, (506-634-7424), with visiting on Sunday from 7-9 p.m. and Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Peter's Church, Clarendon Street on Tuesday at 12:00 Noon. Interment will take place at St. Joseph's Cemetery. Remembrances to Ray, in lieu of flowers, may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
