Obituary of Georgie P. Dunn

The death of Georgie Pearl (Smith) Dunn, age 98, of Saint John, NB occurred on November 28, 2003 at her residence. She was born at French Lake, NB, on January 7, 1905, a daughter of the late Merritt and Dora (Wood) Smith. After graduation from the Provincial Normal School in Fredericton, Georgie taught school in various communities in New Brunswick. In later years she worked for Birks Jewellery Store in Saint John. Georgie attended St. Matthew's Presbyterian Church, Douglas Avenue, Saint John, NB and was a long time member of their Quilting Guild. She loved to quilt and tend to her flower garden giving special attention to her roses. Georgie is survived by one brother Bennie (Helen) Smith of French Lake; sister-in-law Margaret (John) Simpson of Toronto; brother-in-law Gerald Simpson of Deer Island; sister-in-law Jessie Smith of Fredericton as well as several nieces and nephews and cousins and all of her friends and caregivers from the Extra Mural Program. She was predeceased by her husband George E. Dunn in 2001; brother Colin Smith, sisters; Hazel Simpson, Marion Corbett and Laura Smith; brother-in-law Walter Corbett. Visitation will take place at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (506-634-7424) on Monday, December 1, 2003 from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm. The funeral service will be held immediately following visiting at 1:00 pm on Monday, December 1, 2003 from Brenan's Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Dr. Phillip Lee will be officiating. Interment will take place in Fernhill Cemetery. For those who wish, memorial tributes may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
