Obituary of Margery Helen Starr

The death of Margery Helen Starr of Saint John, NB occurred on Thursday, October 4, 2007 at the Rocmaura Nursing Home. Born in Rockingham, NS on February 1, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Mildred (Lloyd) Boutilier. Prior to 1974 Margery had been employed as a book-keeper with Rothesay Collegiate School. She was a member of St. Paul’s Church, Rothesay and the Women’s Association and a member of the IODE. Her favorite activities included reading and golf and she was a talented seamstress. Survived by her daughter, Mary Anderson (nee Sanford) and her partner Teun van Maastricht of the Netherlands; her son, Michael Sanford and his partner Dorothy MacDonald of Hammonds Plains, NS; daughter-in-law, Margaret Sanford of Rothesay, NB; three grandsons: William (Wendy), Timothy (Angela MacMullin) and Daniel (Annette Armitage) Sanford; four great-grandchildren: Jeffrey, Bradley, Rory and Gabrielle Sanford. Predeceased by her first husband, Neil Gordon Sanford and her second husband, Richard B. Starr. Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506) 634-7424. At the request of the family there will not be any visiting at the funeral home. A Memorial Service will be held from St. Paul’s Church, Rothesay on Wednesday, October 10, 2007 at 2 pm. Interment will be held at a later date in Willow Bank Cemetery, Wolfville, NS. In lieu of flowers remembrances may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, the Alzheimer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick.
