Obituary of Marie Edna Dow

DOW, Marie Edna (Maillet): It is with deep sorrow we announce the death of Marie Edna Dow, in her 70th year, loving wife of Allan David Dow of Rothesay on January 24, 2008 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. She was born in 1937 in Ste-Anne-De-Kent, NB a daughter of the late Marguerite (Babineau) and Aldric Maillet. Marie grew up in Buctouche then moved to Saint John as a young teen. Her work career included Crosby Molasses Co. Ltd, City of Saint John, and Brook Bond. She was a member of the Seaview Community Club and Our Lady of Perpetual Help parish. Activities she enjoyed included ice fishing, bowling and bingo and she was well known for her talent as a seamstress which she inherited from her mother whom she adored. Besides her husband, Marie is survived by daughters, Denise Dow (Patricia Gallagher) of Quispamsis, Charlene (Paul) Moore of Gardner Creek, Laurie Moore (Jacques Bellefleur) of Saint John; grandsons, Tyler Moore, Simon Sanscartier and Michael Bellefleur, granddaughters, Nicole Sanscartier and Baye Gallagher; sisters, Pauline (Ivan) LeBlanc, Doris LeBlanc and Jeannette Hall; brother, Leo (Fernande) Maillet; several cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws and special friends. Besides her parents she was predeceased by sisters, Geraldine Hogan and Noella Cook, brother-in-law, Dennis LeBlanc. Resting at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB, (506-634-7424) with visiting on Sunday, January 27, 2008 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, January 28, 2008 from Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Rothesay, NB at 12 Noon. Interment will take place in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Golden Grove, NB in the spring. Remembrances may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of NB.
