Obituary of Frank D. Moore

The unexpected death of Frank (Frankie) Dennis Moore of Anglin Drive, Saint John, NB, husband of Gloria (Record) Moore, occurred on Wednesday morning, August 15, 2007 at his residence. Born in Saint John, NB, he was a son of the late Frank and Mae Bertha (Raynes) Moore. Frankie was a lifelong resident of this city and owned and operated Moore’s Texaco and later, Moore’s Irving on Main Street North. He was well known in the stock car racing circuit, having won Points Champion at Brookside Speedway, Fredericton in 1968 and Multiple Points Champion at Hammond River Raceway in the eighties. He received the Hughie York Award for dedication to stock car racing at the NB International Speedway in 2006. In recent years he owned Car 34 which was driven by his son, Randy. Frankie, known as the agitator, was a Ford man all his life. He also was the sponsor and player for 23 years of the Moore’s 34’s Slow-pitch Team in the Moosehead Slow-pitch League and also sponsored the Moore’s Flyers in the East-West Suburban Hockey League. Surviving besides his wife, Gloria, are his son Randy (Melissa) and their children, Jackson and Andrew, of Saint John, NB; his daughter, Kelly D. (David Parker) and their children, Brandon and Kyle of Grand Bay-Westfield, NB; brothers, Jimmy (Diane) and Ralph, all of Kingston Peninsula; mother-in-law, Beatrice Record of Saint John; brother-in-law, Joseph Record of Prince George, BC; and sisters-in-law, Joan Worden of Grand Bay-Westfield and Margaret Record of Saint John; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; sisters, Mary Rodgerson and Eileen Clowater; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Moore; and brother-in-law, Donald Record. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (506-634-7424) where visiting will be held on Thursday and Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Pius X Church, Somerset Street on Saturday, August 18, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. Following cremation, interment will take place in Loyalist Cemetery, Harding’s Point, NB. Remembrances may be made to the Animal Rescue League, Heart and Stroke Foundation of NB or a charity of the donor’s choice.
