Obituary of Lavinia Phyllis Spragg

Spragg, Lavinia Phyllis Beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother passed away peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Thursday, January 31, 2008. She was the wife of the late Harry L. Spragg. Lavinia was born on May 9, 1922 in Saint John, NB and was a daughter of the late William Frederick and Patience Lavinia (Peer) Dunham. A devout and faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Lavinia served as president of the Relief Society and Primary organizations. She and her husband, Harry, served a temple mission in Washington, DC in 1978. She is survived by one son David Spragg (Cheryl), two daughters Carol Crilley (John), Bonnie Wetmore (Robert), one brother John Dunham (Olga), one sister Frances Arnem (Robert), five grandsons: Edward Crilley (Gina), David Crilley (Marcey), Christopher Wetmore (Erika), Caleb Spragg and David Spragg, all of Saint John, five granddaughters; Tricia Fox (Jonathan), Beaverbank, NS, Jennifer Sanford (David), Alexander, Maine, Melissa Haas (Brian), Hampton, NB, Rebecca Spragg and Carolyn Wetmore, both of Saint John. Lavinia is also survived by twelve great-grandchildren, Liam, Carys, Aidan, Evan and Quinn Fox, Daniel and Justin Crilley, Sebastian, Angelica, and Issac Sanford, Madisyn Donald-Crilley and Elise Haas. She has one surviving cousin, Tutie Carrick, Grand Bay-Westfield and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by two her brothers George and William Dunham and three sisters Edna Goldie, Doris Kaine and Eileen Laskey. Resting at Brenans Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row (634-7424), Saint John, NB, with visitation on Friday, February 1, 2008 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The Funeral service will be take place at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 177 Manchester Ave. on Saturday, February 2, 2008 at 11:00 am. Interment will take place at Greenwood Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Missionary Fund or Humanitarian Aid of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints or a charity of the donor’s choice
