Obituary of Alexander Dean Reevey

The death of Alexander Dean Reevey occurred at the Church of St. John & St. Stephen Nursing Home on July 15, 2008. Predeceased by his beloved wife Gladys Ada (Lewis), brother William, brother David and sister Nancy. Born in Birkenhead, England on November 15th, 1912, he was the son of the late Alexander Dean Reevey and the late Mary Hannah Reevey (Tudor). He was a WWII veteran, serving in the Royal Air Force. After the war, Alex worked for Prudential Insurance before crossing the Atlantic with his wife and family to start a new life in Saint John in 1950. He became president of Gill & Company Ltd. and Gill Equipment Ltd. Gill & Company later became Gilco Bearings and Supplies Ltd. where Alex remained president until his retirement. He was an avid golfer who belonged to the Westfield Golf & Country Club for many years and he had a forty year membership at the Riverside Golf & Country Club. He also loved gardening and spending his winters in Florida, but his happiest moments came from spending time with his family. He was known for his kindness, his generosity and his positive outlook on life. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Alex is survived by his loving daughters Nancy Baxter (Joe) of Rothesay; Maureen Logan (Paul) of Quispamsis; Patricia Teed (John) of Rothesay; Wendy Klohn (Hans) of Rothesay; grandchildren Joanne Jewers (Blair); Jill Northrup (Stephen); Jeffrey Baxter (Charlene); Andrew Logan (Stephanie); Peter Logan (Tricia); Heather Hall (Darrell); Catherine McKinney (Wayne); Alison Smith (Royce); Alex Teed (Crystal); Vanessa Klohn; Hans Alex Klohn; fourteen great grandchildren; nephews Donald Adamson (Lil) and Edward Reevey (Andria); niece Cynthia Harcourt and several nephews in England. The family wishes to extend its sincerest thanks to all the caregivers and staff at the Church of St. John & Stephen Nursing Home for their kindness and dedication. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (506-634-7424), with visiting on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Rothesay, NB on Friday at 2:30 p.m. The interment will take place at a later date in All Saints Cemetery, Clifton Royal, NB. Remembrances may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada, Canadian Cancer Society, I.W.K. Health Centre Foundation or a charity of the donor’s choice.
