Obituary of John Leonard Moody

John (Jack) Leonard Moody of Kingston, husband of Gwen A. (Cosman) Moody, passed away on Friday, July 3, 2009 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born at Point Lepreau on May 11, 1935, he was a son of the late L. Osborne (Ozzie) and Ina L. (English) Moody. Jack was employed as a Longshoreman and also worked with Stevens Construction and Snowflake Lime, where he was instrumental in the construction and design of the piers for the Harbour Bridge. An avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting, fishing, and woodworking, and was a member of Living Faith Church in Quispamsis. He had a keen mind, and was always thinking of ways to improve things. In addition to his wife of 52 years, Jack is survived by a daughter, Brenda Northrup of Kingston; two sons, Kenny Moody of Saint John and Larry Moody (Julia) of Burlington, Ontario; grandchildren Brentha Prosser (Jeffrey), Jessica and Jackie Moody; a sister, Norma Crawford (Barry) of Chance Harbour; a sister-in-law, Gloria Holland of Kingston; brothers-in-law Darrell Cosman (Fran) of Kingston, Kemys Cosman of Norton, Clinton Cosman of Shampers Bluff, Theodore Cosman of Norton, Edward Cosman, Wayne Cosman, and Andrew Cosman, all of Kingston, and Ansley Cosman (Carol) of Brampton, Ontario; aunts Vivian Murray and Bessie Thomson of Dipper Harbour, and Elsie Meehan, Ruth Shephard and Corrine McCutcheon, all of Saint John; and by several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Jack was predeceased by a brother, Charles F. Moody; brothers-in-law Francis, Roland, DeVern, Carl, Ralph, and Cecil; and by a sister-in-law, Dorothy Kellier. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Monday and Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 2:30 PM from Brenan’s Chapel. Interment will take place in the Kingston Baptist Cemetery. A reception will take place at Trinity Parish Hall following the graveside service. For those who wish, remembrances to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
