Obituary of Ronald Roy McIllwraith

Ronald Roy McIllwraith of Saint John, husband of Barbara Ann (Babineau) McIllwraith, passed away on Sunday, January 31, 2010, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born at Saint John on September 18, 1936, he was a son of the late William Alexander and Florence M. (Arsenault) McIllwraith. Ronald retired in 1974 as a Master Corporal from the RCAF, having enlisted in 1953. He had been employed with the Jervis Bay Legion and was a former member of the Buffalo Club. Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons, Ronald S. (Dorothy) of Saint John, Stephen, at home and Jon (Serena) of the Kingston Peninsula, NB; one daughter, Kimberley Ann (Regent) St. Pierre of Saint John; one brother, Robert (Joyce) of Quispamsis; three sisters, Helen (Leslie) MacDonald of Rothesay, Patricia Cunningham of Sussex, and Elizabeth “Betty” (Eldon) Ferris of Saint John; eleven grandchildren: Michael, Ashley, Kaitlyn, Matthew, Danielle, Jessica, James, Kristen, Tristan, Rebecca and Emma Rose; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by six brothers: Eric, Albert, John, Bill, Gordon, Stuart; and one sister, Doreen Duncan. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Monday and Tuesday from 2-4 and 7- 9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from Stella Maris Church, Bayside Drive on Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick would be appreciated by the family.
