Obituary of Sheila Laurene Law

It is with the deepest sadness that we announce the death of Sheila Laurene Law (Kilgour) of Rothesay on Saturday, October 17, 2009 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Sheila was born May 3, 1933 in Woodstock, Ontario, the daughter of the late Laurene and Douglas Kilgour. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, John R. Law; a son Rick (Cindy); three daughters, Susan Flood (Geoff), Diane Hines (Jim), Joanne Gormley (Peter), all of the Kennebecasis Valley; 12 grandchildren, Stephanie Calgary), Jackie, Connor and Vanessa Law, Stephen, Erin and David Flood, Rebecca and Bradley Finlay, Amanda and Matthew Hines, Patrick, Benjamin and Sean Gormley; sister-in-law Mary Wyatt (London); nephews Bob and David Wyatt and niece Catherine Wyatt; sister-in-law Norrine Kilgour, nephew Douglas and niece Cheryl Kilgour and one great-granddaughter, Hailey Kulczycki. Besides her parents she is predeceased by her brother Donald and brother–in–law Jack Wyatt. Sheila had a fun loving approach to life and was blessed with many friends. In her earlier years she spent hours in arenas involved with her children’s figure skating and hockey. She and the late Anne Jarvis were instrumental in developing the Kennebecasis Figure Skating Club, and Sheila also judged many a skater around the province as they tried various figure skating tests. A highlight of her skating years was skating with Barbara Ann Scott in the Ice Capades. An avid golfer, Sheila was a member of the Riverside Golf and Country Club as well as Cypress Lakes in Florida and Brightwood Golf Club in Dartmouth, NS, and was a member of the Canadian Women’s Senior Golf Association, keeping her swing to the end. Her other interests included sewing, knitting, and gardening, and she worked part-time for the Bank of Nova Scotia in Saint John and Rothesay. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Monday from 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 2:30 PM from Brenan’s Chapel. For those who wish, remembrances to the Alzheimer’s Society or to any charity of the donor’s choice would be greatly appreciated by the family, in lieu of flowers.
