Obituary of Frederick August Warning

It is with the deepest of sadness, our family must announce the passing of our very loved father –Frederick, on December 11th, 2009, at age 85. He had a peaceful death at his home – a place he loved – a safe and secure haven. Fred was born in Den Haag, Holland, and immigrated to Canada in 1951. His life in Canada had him living throughout this vast country, eventually settling in East Riverside (now Rothesay), NB, where he has resided for the past 35 years. Fred was predeceased by his loving wife – Willie and is survived by a family that will miss his strong approach to life – his 2 daughters, Ingrid Warning and Connie Stevens (Rick), and loved grandchildren, Kristie and Bryan Gartside, Andrew and Alicia Stevens. Our family was indeed fortunate to have lived many years together in the Saint John area so we had many opportunities to share our life experiences and truly enjoy our time together as a family. Fred very much enjoyed this travels throughout his lifetime. When he first immigrated to Canada – he worked in the west and established his reputation as a hard and dedicated worker. He always strived to exceed at whatever he did and retired a respected construction Project Manager – having worked on paper mill expansions during the final stages of his career. He was a strong leader – and while demanding of his workers – he very much commanded their admiration and respect. Our father – also known as Opa, had many varied interests, and was a strong influence in the lives of those he touched. He loved to “putter” in the house – there were few things that he couldn’t fix. Dad loved his food – especially the wonderful cooking of his wife Willie – and those Dutch treats she often made. Dad and mom especially enjoyed their trailer at Long Reach, and the many trips and cruises they went on together. Opa will be missed by the family and the family pets that he loved to spoil. Fred will be cremated, and wished a simple memorial with family and friends. Visitation will take place at Brenan’s Select CommunityFuneral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB, on Wednesday, December 16th, from 7 to 9 pm. A memorial service will be held in the Brenan’s Chapel at 6:15 pm, prior to visitation. For those who wish, the family would appreciate donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation in lieu of flowers.
