Obituary of Gordon Alan Jones

Gordon Alan Jones of Rothesay, and formerly of Montfort, QC, dearly loved husband of Joan (Berry) Jones, passed away peacefully at Rocmaura Nursing Home on Saturday, November 07, 2009. Born at Montreal, QC on June 30, 1924, he was a son of the late Alan Herbert and Marion (Delaney) Jones. Gordon started his working career with Canadian National Railways, and subsequently worked at BP Canada and Petro Canada as a Traffic Manager. Gord’s greatest life project was his family. He loved Joan greatly, and was a loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He and Joan raised their six children in Dorval, QC, and later renovated their summer home at Lac Chevreuil as a retirement residence, where they spent 25 happy years. He had a great love of the outdoors, and was an avid cross country skier. In retirement, he enjoyed the camaraderie of RUMPS and continued his life-long love of music. Gordon was a Veteran of World War II, serving on convoy duty in the Royal Canadian Navy. Gordon lived his life with humour and joy, and he will be missed. In addition to his wife of 58 years, Gordon is survived by his children, Tim Jones (Patti Moir) of Sudbury, ON, Susan Wilcox (David Toupin) of Kingston, ON, Catherine Seely (Ralph) of Rothesay, Kevin Jones (Elizabeth Stewart) of Chelsea, QC, Teresa Guolla (Michael) of Ottawa, ON, and Stephen Jones of Morin Heights, QC; grandchildren, Aleksy, Anastasia, Laura, Ken, Robyn, Bonnie, Matthew, Rachel, Kevin, Andrew, Patrick, Katherine, Emilie, Louise, Daniel, and Nicholas; and great grandson, Cameron. Gordon was predeceased by a sister, Dorothy Jones. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 12:00 Noon from Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Rothesay. Interment will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to the Kidney Foundation of Canada would be appreciated by the family.
