Obituary of Joseph William Dugay

It is with great sadness that the family of Bill Dugay announces his passing on Sunday, May18, 2014, after a brief illness at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital in Fredericton, NB. Born in Saint John on November 11, 1937, Bill was predeceased by both his father, William and his mother, Isabelle (Doucette) Dugay. Bill is survived by his loving sister, Greta Mackereth (widow of Allan Mackereth) of Rothesay and brother, Gerald Dugay (Patricia) of Saint John. Several devoted nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Bill’s entire career was spent in service to his country as a proud member of the Royal Canadian Air Force, which he joined in 1957 and retired from in 1987. His service took him to Europe, several Canadian provinces including the Northwest Territories, Bermuda and Greenwood, NS after which he retired. His second career, which he started almost immediately after retirement from the air force, was as a security officer in the Hugh John Forestry Flemming Center in Fredericton, a job he enjoyed until he entered the hospital. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the entire staff of the ICU for their selfless care and kindness to both Bill and his visiting family throughout his illness Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John with visitation on Friday, May 23, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, May 24, 2014 at 10:00 am from Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 360 Dufferin Row, Saint John West. Interment will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery, at a later date.
