Obituary of Lorraine Mary McGrath

The death of Lorraine McGrath of Saint John, wife of the late William "Bill" McGrath occurred on Sunday, February 9, 2014, at Bobby's Hospice. Born in St-Louis-de-Kent on July 27, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Melanie (Daigle) Vautour. Prior to her retirement in 1990, Lorraine was employed at Civic Hydro in custodial work. She always loved a good laugh and especially looked forward to holiday get-togethers and visits from family and friends. Lorraine also enjoyed a good game of cards and listening to music. She will always be lovingly missed. Lorraine is survived by her children, Irene Aspen of Saint John, Anne Campbell (Maurice) of Quispamsis, Alvin (Cathy) and Kevin, both of Saint John; siblings, Celanire Robichaud of Richibucto, Semida Ruel (Don) of California, Marie Hasselman (Art) of Connecticut, Victoria LeGresley (Louis) and Aurea LeGresley (Joe), both of Ontario and Gerald Vautour of Maine; son-in-law, Walter Carlson of Quispamsis; grandchildren, Krista Hamm (Ray), Paul Carlson, Kim Aspen, Sacha Campbell (Ryan), Cameron Campbell (Crystal), Katrina Campbell, Erika McGrath (Troy), Shane McGrath, Harrison and Carter McGrath; great-grandchildren, Ella, Cohen and Quinn; several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents, Lorraine was also predeceased by her daughter, Jean Carlson and siblings, Leo, Emery, Ulyssee, Adrien, Valmond and Armand. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from Stella Maris Church, 201 Bayside Drive on Wednesday, February 12, 2014, at 12:05 PM. A private family interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens, at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances made to Bobby's Hospice, the MS Society, Canadian Diabetes Association or to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
