Obituary of Velma Beatrice Wyman

The death of Velma Wyman, wife of the late Malcolm Wyman, occurred on Sunday, February 2, 2014 at her residence in the Carleton Kirk Nursing Home. Born June 5, 1918 in The Range, Queen’s County, she was a daughter of the late Willard and Bridgette (McNamara) Barton. Being brought up in the country, Velma enjoyed being surrounded by nature; she enjoyed fishing in her younger years, and as she aged, she would watch the birds and squirrels from her window. She loved to knit and read, and adored cats. Time with family was important to Velma, and they will all miss her dearly. Velma is survived by her daughter, Ruth Toole (William); grandchildren: William Toole, Marion Anderson, Gloria Toole, Jennifer Wyman, and Andrew Wyman; several great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her son, Roger Wyman; granddaughter, Janice Toole; great-granddaughter, Samantha Toole; sister, Opal Barton; and brothers: Joseph Barton and Alexander Barton. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home , 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Wednesday, February 5, 2014 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2014 at 10 AM from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will take place in the Lower Range Church Cemetery in the spring. In lieu of flowers, remembrances to Lower Range Church or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. Please place online condolences and remembrances at www.brenansfh.com.
