Obituary of Raymond Arthur Dobbelsteyn

It is with profound sadness that we announce the unexpected death of our beloved father, Raymond Arthur "Dutchie" Dobbelsteyn, who passed away on Monday, January fifth at the Saint John Regional Hospital. The fourth oldest of seven children, Raymond was born on October 28th, 1931 to the late Nicholas Sr. Dobbelsteyn and Mamie (Frauley) Dobbelsteyn. He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-eight years Jeanette (Lozier) Dobbelsteyn and their six children: Terry (Paula Evans), Peggy, Brian (Gloria Boulos), Marlene Bell (Bruce), Jamie (Paula McGrath), Michael (Carmel Duffley), along with thirty much loved grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, as well as brothers Henry (Late Louise Shannon), Alison (Barbara Bowes) and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by brothers Nicholas (Barbara Bond), Joe (Mary Irving), Arthur and Gerry. A devoted member of St. Peter’s parish, Raymond generously volunteered his time and resources to various non-profit organizations. A former employee of NBTel, he spent his retirement enjoying the company of his extensive family, who adored him and will miss him terribly. Raymond was a man of humility, generosity, and great faith. In lieu of flowers, it is requested donations be made to Divine Mercy Catholic School. We love you, we miss you, and may heaven include an endless supply of Dairy Queen banana-splits (and we won’t tell mom!). Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 and Thursday, January 8, 2015 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 9, 2015 at 2 pm from St. Peter’s Church. Interment will take place at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in the spring. www.brenansfh.com.
