Obituary of Audrey Elizabeth Straight

The death of Audrey Straight of Saint John occurred peacefully on Tuesday, March 24, 2015, at Rocmaura Nursing Home. Born on August 5, 1927, she was the daughter of the late George Alfred Straight of Saint John (Cambridge Narrows) and the late Jean (Andrews) Straight of Sussex. Audrey was employed with the Canadian Red Cross for over thirty years and once retired she volunteered numerous hours at her local community food basket. In her early years, she was a member of St. James Anglican Church and upon its closure had become a faithful member of Trinity Anglican Church. For seventy-five years, Audrey actively volunteered with Girl Guides of Canada; where she was made an Honourary life member. Audrey was a real history buff and belonged to the Saint John United Empire Loyalists’ Association. She will be sadly missed Audrey is survived by her brother, George K. Straight of Port Severn, ON; niece, Carol Elizabeth Straight (Mark Charlebois) of Azilda, ON; nephew, Ian George Straight of Port Severn, ON; cousins, William (Leanne) Straight of Grand Bay-Westfield and Phyllis Gallop of Saint John. In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her nephew, Glen Frederick Straight and sister-in-law, Priscilla E. (Pike) Straight of St. Lawrence, NL. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Saturday, March 28 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. The funeral service will be held from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, March 30, 2015, at 10:00 AM. Interment will take place in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
