Obituary of Rita Mary McDonald

In her 93rd year Rita Mary (Jackson) McDonald, peacefully passed away at Rocmaura Nursing Home on Sunday, March 23, 2014. Rita Mary was a daughter the late of Wilber and Mary (Lafferty) Jackson and widow of John McDonald. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was predeceased by her brothers: Harold and Ronald and sister, Mary Elsie O’Leary. Rita grew up in the north end and was a member of various sodalities and CWL of St. Peters Parish. She retired from the accounting department of the General Hospital. Rita was the hospitality lady. Everyone who came to her home was treated to her great cooking and went home with a goodie bag of sweets. Rita loved her dogs: Chips, Dusty and Molly and was heartbroken when she had to leave Molly to go to Rocmaura. Rita is survived by several nieces, nephew and their families. The family offers gratitude to Rocmaura Staff for their care for Rita and a special thank you to caregivers: Carole and Joan for their love and devotion to Rita’s life. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visitation on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Peter's Church, 50 Clarendon Street on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at 10:00 am. Interment will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
