Obituary of Constance Mary Thomson

Constance Mary Thomson passed away on August 11, 2015 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on June 9, 1940 in Saint John, she was a daughter of the late P. Maurice and Patricia (Harrison) Blanchet. In her early years, Connie enjoyed playing the piano and spending the summers in Rothesay. She especially loved attending and then being a counsellor at Camp Glenburn. Connie was an accomplished young pianist which led to a love of classical music. In 1962, Connie graduated from the Montreal General Hospital School of Nursing. She and Scotty married and settled in Baie d’Urfé, Québec to start their family. It was during this time that her love of gardening blossomed. In 1982, the family moved to Rothesay where she was able to re-connect with old friends and extended family members. Her love of laughter was legendary. She always enjoyed a good game of bridge or tennis. She was proud of her volunteering activities which included the VON, Meals on Wheels and the St. Paul’s Altar Guild. Connie’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the Doctors and Nurses at the SJRH for the excellent care that was always provided to her and for the support that was always shown towards her family. Surviving are her husband of almost 53 years, Ian "Scotty"; children, John of Saint John, Sue of Rothesay, Cynthia of Quispamsis and Jim (Leanne) of Ottawa; grandchildren, Joey, Ben and Boyd; brothers, Paul (Lynne), Jim (Norma), Cyrus, Mike and Charlie; sisters, Eleanor (Harry), Cynthia (Dick), Linda (Phillip) and Margie.
