Obituary of Winnifred Idella Roberts

It is with saddened hearts that we announce the passing of Winnifred Idella (Henderson) Roberts at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Tuesday, January 28, 2014. Widow of Armand H Roberts and the daughter of the late Charles W and Idella M (Straight) Henderson. Survived by her loving children: Linda (Jim) Naves, Paul (Charlotte) Roberts, Michael (Jill) Roberts all of Saint John, NB; Timothy (Barbara) Roberts of Ottawa, ON; and Nancy (Rowan) Garnett of Moncton, NB. 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; sister Dorothy (Clinton) White of Regina, SK; brother, Lloyd (Joyce) Henderson of London, ON; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and her close friends. She was predeceased by her brother Cecil (Lee) Henderson, of Fredericton, NB. Throughout her career, Winnifred was employed at Manchester Robertson Allison on King Street, spent more than 20 years at Red Rose Tea, and retail positions at Sears and Zellers. Winnifred was an avid bowler all her life and bowled with Pin Pals, St Peter’s Saints, and Bowling Moms. She was a loyal member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 64, Ladies Auxiliary for over 57 years. Her interests included painting, crocheting, birds, camping at Harding’s Point, and playing cards and bingo. The numerous family gatherings and summers spent on the Kingston Peninsula provided many happy memories. It also gave her great satisfaction to complete her GED, which she did in later years, along with a French language and Red Cross Homemaker course. Winnifred was a member of RiverCross Church (formerly Main Street Baptist). Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, with visiting on Sunday, February 2, from 2 PM to 4 PM and 6 PM to 8 PM. Donations to River Cross Church or Donor's Choice would be appreciated by the family. Funeral will take place at Brenan’s Chapel on Monday, February 3, at 11 AM. Interment will take place at a later date at Harding’s Point Cemetery. She will be ever loved and remembered.
