Obituary of Kathleen Ruth Garnett

It is with great sadness that the family of Kay Garnett, formerly of Saint John, wife of the late John Garnett announces her passing, which occurred on Saturday, May 17, 2014, at her home, Belleisle Creek Manor. Born in Saint John of December 7, 1928, she was the daughter of the late George and Eva (Hovey) Comley. Prior to her retirement, Kay truly loved and enjoyed her career as a nurses aid. Kay was always a woman of great faith and her family take great comfort in knowing that she's now at peace in the arms of her God. She always loved surrounding herself in the beauty of nature and enjoyed watching the hummingbirds at her feeders. Together with those she loved, Kay also enjoyed many road trips in the country. Most of all, she adored the times spent with her family and will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Kay is survived by her son, Douglas Garnett (Carol) of Saint John; daughters, Kristen Garnett of Saint John and Gail Richard (Alex) of Quispamsis; brother, Gordon Comley of Manitoba; grandchildren, Matthew, Ryan, Sarah, Evan, Brandon and Brooklyn; great-grandchildren, Chandler, Abigail, Elijah and Olivia; several nieces and nephews; as well as best friend and roommate at the Manor, Olga. Although there will be no visitation time, relatives and friends are invited to attend the graveside service, which will be held at Greenwood Cemetery, Sand Cove Road, Saint John on Tuesday, May 20, 2014, at 11:00 AM. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424). For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation - Atlantic Chapter or to the charity of the donor's choice.
