Obituary of Susan Elaine Killen

With her family at her side, the death of Susan Killen, wife of Carl Killen, occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Monday, December 30, 2013. Born on September 16, 1955 in Rochester, NY, to the late Harlan and Ruth (Collins) Fisher, Susan was a vocalist with "a voice like an angel" and a music teacher for many years. Choir director at Key Industries since 2009, she was also a reiki master, reflexologist and naturopathic practitioner. Most recently, she was working as an intuitive counselor and achieved certification as an Interfaith Spiritual Arts Apprentice and Applied Spiritual Counsellor. Early on, Susan worked with horses, training both the horses and their riders. Not long after meeting Carl, Susan learned to love politics and was her husband’s best campaigner. Always very interested in the mystical and metaphysical aspects of life, Susan pursued that interest with dedication and with passion. But above all, Susan was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and incredible friend, always having time for people, but especially for those she loved. Besides her husband Carl, Susan is survived by her sons: Jordan Mitchell (Ophilia) of Dieppe, Jonathan Mitchell (Helen) of Moncton and Alex Mitchell (Jennifer) of Sussex; father of her children, David Mitchell; step-daughters: Joanna Belyea (Greg) of Saint John and Kathleen Bell (William) of St. Stephen; sister, Christine Kelso (Carl) of Boston, MA; grandchildren: Aaliyah, Aliviah, Neil and Dylan-Chong Ming. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Wednesday from 6-8 pm and Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. The Funeral Service will be held from Trinity Anglican Church, Charlotte Street on Friday, January 3, 2014 at 11:00 am. Interment will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. For those who wish remembrances to the Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of choice would be appreciated by the family. Please place online condolences and remembrances at www.BrenansFH.com
