Obituary of Gertrude Agatha Burnside

Surrounded by her family the death of Gertrude Burnside occurred on Friday, May 9, 2014 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. She was born on August 6, 1932 in Mispec to the late Harry and Mary (Steeves) Daly. Gertrude was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother; she devoted her life to her family. She was a member of St. Mary and St. Bartholomew's Church. Gertrude enjoyed bowling, knitting cooking and baking specializing in cakes and pies. She is survived by her sons: Robert Burnside (Kathie) of St. Stephen and Ed Daly (Susan) of Saint John; daughters: Geraldine and Krista Burnside both of Saint John; sisters: Claire Cooper, Agnes Daly and Bernice Mollins; brothers: Harry (Lorraine) and Morris (Betty); seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents, Gertrude was predeceased by son, James; infant brother, Harry; brothers: Fred and Arthur and a sister, Marion. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visitation on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. The Funeral Service will be held from Brenan's Chapel on Thursday, May 15, 2014 at 12:00 noon. Interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens.
