Obituary of Edgar Montgomery Vye

Edgar Montgomery Vye of Saint John, husband of Clea L. (McAllister) Vye, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 22, 2013 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Newcastle, New Brunswick on June 19, 1945, he was the son of the late Donald and Alexena (Cliff) Vye. Ed was a Professional Engineer who worked for the Port of Saint John for 35 years. He was a member of the Professional Engineers of New Brunswick, had volunteered at the 1985 Canada Games, and was a regular spectator at the Saint John Flames and Sea Dogs hockey games. He was involved with the development of Harbour Passage, volunteered for Habitat for Humanity, and coached Midget Hockey for several years. Ed loved to travel, and throughout the course of his life he visited 52 different countries. In addition to his wife of 46 years, Ed is survived by two sons, Alex Vye (Raquel Phillips-Vye) of Moncton, and Tom Vye (Nancy) of Toronto; grandchildren Truman, Chloe, Willow, and Eric; and a wide circle of good friends who will miss Ed dearly. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Tuesday, November 26, 2013 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at 10:00 AM from Brenan's Chapel. Interment will take place in Greenwood Cemetery. For those who wish remembrances to the Oncology Unit at the Saint John Regional Hospital would be appreciated by the family.
