Obituary of Rubye Ione Leger

With heavy hearts, the family of Rubye Ione Leger, wife of Paul J. Leger, announces her passing on Monday, January 27, 2014 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born March 22, 1939 in Salmon Creek, NB, she was a daughter of the late G. Russell and Valerie (Higgins) Bishop. Rubye graduated from Chipman Regional High School and NB Teacher’s College. She taught in Fredericton Junction, worked at Dominion Stores, then NBTel for 24 years, retiring in 1996. An avid gardener, Rubye had beautiful gardens at their homes in Rothesay (Lincluden and Grove Ave). Rubye and Paul went on many great adventures in their worldly travels, and were left with many happy memories. She had great culinary expertise, made her own wine, and was a member of two different supper clubs. Her family and friends, whom she cherished, will miss her dearly. Besides her husband Paul, Rubye is survived by her son, Troy David Haines (Marites); daughter, Rachel Elizabeth Anne Haines (Jodi); grandchildren: Mason and India Haines, and Tattianna Dillard-Beard; sisters: Josephine "Joey" Niles (Harry) and Laverne Legge; brother: Kevin-John Bishop (Victoria); sisters-in-law: Heather Bishop, Marie Darling (Ian), and Jeannette Perry (Chuck); brother-in-law: Gerard Leger (Lorraine) and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents and parents-in-law (Leonce and Frances Leger), she is pre-deceased by Neddie Bishop (brother), Eugene Legge (brother-in-law), and baby Emanuel Legge. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, 634-7424, with visiting on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 and Thursday, January 30, 2014 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, January 31, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 33 Gondola Point Road, Rothesay. Interment will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. In lieu of donations, floral arrangements would be appreciated by the family. www.brenansfh.com
