Obituary of Roberta Doreen Grandy

It is with heavy hearts the family announces the passing of Roberta Doreen Grandy, loving wife of the late Carlson Hugh Grandy: Saturday, December 14, 2013 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 10, 1923 to the late Walter and Ruby (Craft) McCullum. She was a kind, passionate, strong spirited woman who generously gave of herself to her family, grandchildren, great grandchildren and community. She was an avid curler, golfer, card player, member of St. Luke’s Church, Pythian Choir and IODE and enjoyed spending summers with family and friends at her summer home at Ragged Point. Roberta is survived by her children: Elizabeth ‘Betty’ Ward of Dartmouth, NS, Terrance (Beverley) of Yarmouth, NS, Carolyn Asmirian (Greg) of Henderson, NV and James (Cynthia) of Fredericton; devoted grandmother to: Tracy (Jason), Teri-lyn (Trevor), Julia (Justin), Michael (Marian), Jeffrey (Cristina), Jennifer (Rob) and Jillian (Jacob); great Nanny "G" to Abigail, Ben, Grace, Maeve and Sawyer; sister of Phyllis Campbell and aunt to several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband; parents and siblings: Gertrude, Dorothy, John ‘Jack’, Winnifred, Muriel, Thelma and Vivian and son-in-law, Arthur Ward. Special thanks to the Management and Staff of the Château Champlain which Roberta called home for the past several years as well as Joan and her homecare staff who treated Roberta as family. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visitation on Monday from 2:00 - 4:00 pm and 6:00 – 8:00 pm. The Funeral Service will be held from Brenan's Chapel on Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at 3:30 pm. Interment will take place in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery at a later date. Flowers would be appreciated by the family, also remembrances to World Vision or Bobby’s Hospice.
