Obituary of Irene L. Margeson

It Is with heavy hearts the family of Irene Margeson, wife of the late Garnett Margeson, announce her passing on Monday, December 8, 2014 at Kings Way Care Centre. Born in Millville, NS on August 22, 1918, she was a daughter of the late George and Annie (Brennan) Foster. Irene loved to keep her hands busy making items such as slippers, mittens, scarves, hats and sweaters. She was skilled at knitting bed spreads and throws; crocheting table cloths and Christmas tree ornaments for her family and making pickles. She always had multiple projects on the go at any one time. She also sold many of these items across Canada and into the USA. The men in her family enjoyed the wool socks they knew they would receive each Christmas from her. Family gatherings were very important to Irene. She was loved dearly by her friends and family and will be sadly missed by all, including her care givers at Kings Way Care Centre Irene will be missed by her children; Shirley Watts of Alberta, Thelma Kierstead (the late Fred) of Saint John, Judy Wood (Jerry) of Ratters Corner, Betty Robins (the late Jim) of Saint John, Linda Merrick (John) of Quispamsis, Dale Arsenault (Raymond) of Sussex, Garnett Margeson (Lisa) of Quebec and Charles Margeson of St. Martins; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; a sister, Mabel Mortimer (the late John) of Ontario; a brother, Percy Brennan (Ting) of Saint John; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended relatives. In addition to her husband, Garnett, and her parents, Irene was predeceased by a sister Bessie Ellis (the late Lawrence) and a brother Clayton Foster (the late Madeline). Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424) with visiting on Thursday, December 11, 2014 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 12, 2014 at 12:00 pm in Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel with a reception to follow in Brenan’s Reception Centre. For those who wish, remembrances made to Kings Way Care Centre would be appreciated by the family.
