Obituary of Marie Docile Duguay

Docile Duguay, 65, of Saint John, passed away accidentally on Saturday, September 13th, 2014. Born June 30th, 1949, in Leech, New Brunswick, Docile was the beloved daughter of the late Catherine Richard and the late George Duguay. Docile had a 47 year career as a teacher, and spent the majority of her career teaching in public schools, later retiring so that she could teach French as a second language to adults. All those who knew her, however, knew that she had been a teacher her entire life –her life was her classroom, and we had the blessing of being her students. When God created Docile in His image, He created her with love, compassion, mercy, grace, light, joy, strength, humility, humor, patience, honesty, forgiveness, fierceness, gentleness, faith, hope, wisdom, leadership, creativity, determination, spiritedness, and so much more. She lived out God’s character, and in doing so, could not possibly have been brighter, lovelier, stronger, more loving, more dedicated, more faithful, more giving, more devoted, or more beautiful... she could not possibly have been more loved. She is survived by her five children; Isabelle Brunet (Serge Paquette), Alain Benoit (Christina Dalzell), Jolaine Last (Wilfred Last), Mathieu Benoit (Joline Gaudet), Sebastien Benoit (Sejin Jang); two step-children, Erin and Tara O’Mahony as well as her eight grandchildren; Florence, Olivier, Brandon, Joshua, Jillian, Tristan, Alexandra, and Christopher, and her six siblings; Donat Fournier, Patricia Benoit, Nadine Benoit, Clairmond Benoit, Delmann Godin and Cydia Godin as well as many life-long friends. Arrangements are under the care of Brenan ’ s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) as well as La Colombe Funeral Home, 667 chemin Saulnier Ouest, Tracadie-Sheila, (395-5513). Visitation will take place at Brenan’s on Saturday, September 20, 2014 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm and Sunday, September 21, 2014 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Monday September 22, 2014 at 10 am at Saint Francois-de-Sales (77 Ragged Point Road, Saint John). There will also be a French Catholic Mass of Christian Burial at 2:00 pm on Thursday, September 25, 2014, at Notre Dame-de-la-Salette Church in Sheila, New Brunswick. Docile leaves behind a 65 year trail of life so bright, so beautiful, with such a legendary legacy in the way she loved, without reserve or judgement, freely and without condition, all who had the blessing of being in her presence, making them feel special because she already knew they were, reflecting it back to them so they could see it for themselves. Her capacity to love was beyond measure, and our love for her was beyond measure. We were given the very best. We have lost the very best. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Compassion Canada, Saint Francois-de-Sales or The Joshua Group.
