Obituary of Jack Edward Walker

Surrounded by his family the death of Jack Walker, husband of Dorothy (Wilson) Walker occurred at Bobby’s Hospice on Tuesday, May 27, 2014. He was born on March 27, 1927 in Saint John to the late Herbert and Sarah (Bigney) Walker. Jack worked at Lockharts Building Supplies for 38 years and later retired from Kents Building Supplies. He was an avid woodworker and a member of Riverside Golf and Country Club. Jack was past Commodore and current member of the Renforth Boat Club. In his early years, he was a member of the St. Mary’s Band and loved to play his saxophone and clarinet. Jack also loved to cruise the river with his wife and friends on their Gypsy Jane. Besides Dorothy his loving wife of over 63 years; Jack is survived by his children: Stephen "George" Walker (Sharon) of Rothesay and Jacqueline Wiley (George) of Grand Bay-Westfield; grandchildren: Michael, Jessica, Nicola and Christina; great-granddaughter, Cali Sophia and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and sisters: Ruth Nickerson and Pauline Walker. Arrangements are under the care of Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424). A Celebration of Jack’s Life will be held from St. James the Less Church,1760 Rothesay Road on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at 2:00 pm. Interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens at a later date. A special thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff of Bobby’s Hospice for making Jack’s last day pleasant and comfortable. For those who wish, remembrances to Bobby’s Hospice or St. James the Less Church would be appreciated by the family.
