Obituary of James Arthur Kerr

The death of Jim Kerr occurred unexpectedly in Hampton on Monday, August 24, 2015. The son of the late James and Berna (Young) Kerr of Elora, Ontario. He is survived by his wife Evelyn (Hoyt), children Caroline (Sean) Rochelle of Arkansas; Matthew (Jill) Kerr of Boston; Laura (Will) Bullock of North Carolina; Rebecca (Ryan) Thurman of North Carolina; six grandchildren Abigail, Ellison, Elizabeth, Madeline, James, and Eloise; one brother, Lorne, of Elora, Ontario. Jim enjoyed a nearly 50-year career which began in x-ray and transitioned to ultrasound, during which time he became one of the most sought-after sonographers in his field. Despite retiring in 2008, Jim continued to work in hospitals throughout Ontario and New Brunswick because he took special pride in helping people. Jim had a passion for travelling the world and visiting the many friends he made, especially those in Australia where he and his family lived for more than a decade. Jim and Evelyn moved to Hampton in 2008, but Jim was never one to sit still. An avid sportsman and accomplished marathoner, Jim shared his love for running with his wife and four children. He loved landscaping, auctions, collecting art, and was a gifted pianist. He adored his children and grandchildren and jumped at the chance to visit with them as often as possible in the United States. Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visitation on Thursday, August 27 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The funeral service will be held on Friday August 28, 2015 at 11:00 am from The Church of the Ascension, 31 Norton Shore Road, Hampton, NB. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Saint John Regional Hospital Foundation Diagnostic Imaging Program or to the donor’s choice.
