Obituary of Glenmore Percival D'Arcy

Surrounded by his family the death of Glen D’Arcy, husband of Audrey (Reicker) D’Arcy occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Friday, May 30, 2014. He was born on June 16, 1924 in Saint John to the late Hiram and Louise (Laing) D’Arcy. Glen was a veteran of World War II serving with the Royal Canadian Navy. He was stationed aboard HMCS Glace Bay in the North Atlantic. He was a long time resident of the North End and had a meat and grocery business. Glen was also a sales representative for Colgate Palmolive Ltd. for many years. A devoted member of Portland United Church where he played an active role in the spiritual administration of the church. He was a member of UCT, PROBIS and the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #64 and a former member of the Westfield and Rockwood Golf and Country Clubs. He was a very loving and active grandfather to his grandsons especially in his retirement years. Besides Audrey his devoted wife of over 67 years, Glen is survived by his son, David (Denise) of Hamilton, ON; daughter, Sally Duguay (Bruce) of Grand Bay-Westfield; grandsons: George, Jordi and Darcy Crowther; brother, Delbert (Ruth); sister, Jean Wood and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; brothers, James, Leycester and Gilbert and sisters: Olive Metcalfe and Susan D’Arcy. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. The Funeral Service will be held from Portland United Church, 50 Newport Crescent on Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at 1:00 pm. Interment will take place in Greenwood Cemetery.
