Obituary of Mabel F. Mouland

Mabel (Lawrence) Mouland, wife of Gordon Mouland Sr., passed away on November 30, 2014 at the Church of St. John and St. Stephen Home. Born on November 3, 1923 in Sackville NB, she was the daughter of the late George and Mary (Hoar) Lawrence. Mabel lived in Saint John and worked as a legal secretary and homemaker. She was a member of St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Sackville and was quite active in the leadership of Sunday school and Girl Guides. She loved sports and participated in skiing, tennis, hockey, curling and golf. She was a member of the Riverside Country Club. Mabel was a Past President of the Thistle Curling Club Ladies Association and was a member of the late Mildred Jones City and District Championship team. She also enjoyed sailing with her family, and served on the racing and sailing committee at R.K.Y.C. for 25 years as a starter and timer for the club’s sailing races. Mabel is survived by her husband Gordon Mouland; her sons Gordon Mouland (Debbie Garland) and Bill Mouland (Anne); three grandchildren, Alexander Mouland (Shanell), Heather Burke (Daryl) and Janet Mouland (George Clifford); two great granddaughters Grace and Kate Mouland; a sister Doris McAllister (Charles); a sister-in-law Helen Lawrence; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her siblings; Robert Lawrence, Dorothy Ritchie, Ethel Lawrence, Marnie LeMoine; and her brothers-in-law Manson Ritchie and Ted LeMoine. Arrangements are entrusted to Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424) with visiting on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. The funeral service will be held from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, December 4, 2014 at 12:00 pm. Interment will take place at Ocean View Memorial Gardens. Remembrances made to the Church of St. John St. Stephen Home, St. Luke’s Anglican Church Outreach Program (Saint John), or any charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
