Obituary of Cynthia Louise Fleming

Cynthia Louise Fleming passed away peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital on September 5, 2014. Daughter of Douglas Fleming and Elizabeth (Mabey) Fleming, she is survived by daughter Kristina Brown, brothers Stanley and Gregory Fleming and her faithful companion, Molly. Cindy was a teacher for thirty years, with the majority of her career being at Centennial Elementary School. She was instrumental in promoting literacy in the community with events such as book fairs and literacy nights. She lived for the children she taught and was a true champion of the North End. Cindy was also a committed member of the Portland United Church congregation. Throughout her life, she was lucky enough to create many life long friendships. Some of the most important of those friendships were Cindy’s "Angels," who were by her side when they were needed most. The family requests that bright colours be worn during both visitation and funeral. Arrangements under the care of Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (624-7424). Resting at Portland United Church on Wednesday, September 10, 2014 from 2pm-4pm and 7pm-9pm. Funeral will also be held at Portland United Church on Thursday, September 11, 2014 at 11:00am. A private burial will follow. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Robin Award at Centennial School, General Funds of Portland United Church or CARMA Cat Rescue.
