Obituary of Helmut Joseph Sandner

It is with great sadness that the family of Joe Sandner of Saint John, beloved husband of Barbara (Brennan) Sandner announces his death, which occurred at 8:16 AM on Thursday, May 15, 2014, at Bobby’s Hospice. Born in Vienna, Austria on February 13, 1950, he was the son of the late Joseph and Lilli Sandner. Prior to his retirement, Joe successfully owned and operated a used bookstore in Ontario called Bookland. He was an avid reader and also enjoyed listening to music and watching movies. Joe loved to shop and was a collector of movie memorabilia. He will be sadly missed. In addition to his wife, Barbara, Joe is also survived by his sons, Joseph (Gloria) of Ontario and Corey of Saint John; sister, Sylvia (Paul) of Ontario; mother-in-law, Louise Brennan of Saint John; sisters-in-law; brothers-in-law; several nieces and nephews; as well as special feline companions, Misty and Mint. The Sandner family would like to express their sincere thanks and appreciation to the staff of Extra Mural and Bobby’s Hospice for the excellent care that was always provided to Joe. The support and concern shown towards him and our family will never be forgotten. As per Joe’s request, no visitation or funeral service will be held. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424). For those who wish, remembrances may be made to Bobby’s Hospice.
