Obituary of Elma Arthurs Barry

Barry, Elma “Dickie” Arthurs. – With great sadness the family of Elma “ Dickie” (Puddington) Arthurs Barry, of Saint John, NB, the last survivng member of her immediate family, wife of the late Clement Barry, announce her death on Thursday, January 24, 2008 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Chapel Grove, Kingston Peninsula, at the home of her uncle, James Edwards, she was the youngest daughter of the late Medley and Beatrice (Edwards) Puddington. During the war years she taught school. Dickie held memberships with the Federal, Provincial and Saint John Liberal Associations, the Peninsula Pearls, Maritime Fiddlers Association, Coles Avid Reader Club and attended All Saints Church, Clifton Royal, NB. She possessed a great passion for animals and birds. She is survived by one son, Richard (Gail) Arthurs of Chapel Grove; two daughters: Virginia-Lee Robb of Saint John, NB and Gale (David) McCurdy of New Maryland, NB; grandsons: Jason (Sherri) Arthurs, Justin Arthurs, and David McCurdy, granddaughters Jodi (Aiden) McCormack, Jennifer, Jillian and Erin McCurdy, great-grandchildren Colton and Tiffany Arthurs, Declan and Quinlan McCormick, Tristian Arthurs. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her sister Muriel Wilson. Resting at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB, (506-634-7424) with visiting on Friday, January 25, 2008 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm and Saturday, January 26, 2008 from 12 noon-3:00 pm. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2008 from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel at 3:00 pm. Interment will take place in All Saints Anglican Church Cemetery, Clifton Royal in the spring. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to All Saints Anglican Church, Clifton Royal. NB, or Canadian Cancer Society.
