Obituary of Willard R Hanson

HANSON, WILLARD R. - The death of Willard Hanson formerly of Carleton Street, Saint John, husband of the late Ida Eleanor (Graham) Hanson, occurred on Thursday, June 14, 2007 at Ridgewood Veteran’s Wing, Saint John. Born in Saint John on November 18, 1917, he was the son of the late Wilbert E. and Mattie M. (Matthews) Hanson. Willard was employed at NB Tel for 45 years before his retirement in 1976. He was a Veteran of World War II, serving overseas with the Royal Canadian Navy and was a member of the NB Telephone Pioneers and the Church of St. Andrew and St. David. He is survived by two sons, Wayne G. Hanson (Yvonne) of Battersea, ON and Dr. Dana W. Hanson (Phyllis) of Fredericton, grandchildren, Tony (Kari), Natasha, Julie (Jeremy), and Marc, two great grandchildren, Kieran and Jack, several nieces and nephews, and sisters-in-law Phyllis Hanson, and Mary Allen. He was predeceased by one brother, G. Holly Hanson and one sister, Winona Livingston. By his request there will be no visiting. A private family service will take place at a later date. Interment will take place at Rollingdam Cemetery at a later date. Remembrances to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick or the charity of the donors’ choice would be appreciated.
