Obituary of Gerard Edward David

David, (Buckie) Gerard Edward - It is with profound sadness, the family of Buckie David announces his death which occurred peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Monday, November 26th, 2007. Born in Fredericton, NB on November 8th, 1936, he was the son of the late Kalile and Therisa David. He is survived by his ‘wife’ Debbie, his son Michael (Kim) of Ontario, his daughter Shonna David of Saint John, daughter Lynn Akmens (Eriks) of Fredericton, daughter Lisa David (Derek) of Alberta, daughter Jennifer David of North Carolina, step-son Shaun Nadeau, and step-daughter Natasha Nadeau, both of Saint John. Buckie will be lovingly missed by his grandchildren Brett and Kathryn, Edward, Brittany and Kyle, Laila and Carly, and Helena, his elder sister Joan MacPherson (Dick) of Ontario, one niece and four nephews. He was pre-deceased by his younger sister Helen McKay (Hank) of Geary, NB. Buckie was an extremely talented hockey player in his younger years, playing right wing position for the Saint John Beavers, the Irving Oilers, the Saint John Mooseheads, the Simonds Brais, and the Saint John Oldtimers. Due to his graceful skating ability, he was often jovially referred to as "Barbara Ann." In his later years, Buckie was the successful owner/operator of Looney Amusements Limited from 1990 through 2002. In addition to hockey, he had several other passions in life. He was an avid pool player and member of two Saint John 8-Ball leagues, he loved a good card game and the thrill of the horse races. Buckie was very well known in Saint John, and in addition to this devastating loss to his family, he leaves behind many dear friends. He lived life to the fullest, and he did it his way. We love you, Buck. Resting at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row (634-7424) with visiting on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be celebrated on Friday, November 30th, 2007 at 2:15 PM at Brenan’s Chapel, immediately followed by a reception. Remembrances made to the Brain Tumor Foundation of Canada or charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated. Special thanks from the family goes out to the wonderful, caring staff of 3 B South at the Saint John Regional Hospital.
