Obituary of Rowland Goarl Buckley

The death of Rowland G. Buckley occurred on Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at the Loch Lomond Villa. Born in Quispamsis on May 23, 1927, he was a son of the late Albert and Verna (McPhee) Buckley. Rowland was a prominent business man in and around the Saint John area for many years. He loved to spend time on his sailboat and enjoyed tending to his flower gardens. Rowland is survived by loving wife of 55 years, Dorothy (Mundle) Buckley; three daughters, Gwen Day (Bart), Janet Lamb (Geordie), Anita Britten (Carl), and one son, Daniel Buckley. He was the proud grandfather of five grandchildren, Barbara, Ben, Kate, Cole and Andrew. Rowland is also survived by three sisters, Rita Duffley (Jim), Donna Harriott (Hugh) and Diane Ellis (Ron), along with several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Albert and sister, Josephine Phillips (Maurice). Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Sunday, July 28, 2013 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, July 29, 2013 from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel at 10:00 am, with the Reverend Canon Wally Corey officiating, followed by a reception in Brenan’s Reception Centre. Interment will take place in Fernhill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada or a charity of the donor’s choice.
