Obituary of Doris Lillian Kierstead

Doris Lillian Kierstead of Saint John, wife of Harold Kierstead, passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2013 at Rocmaura Nursing Home. Born in Saint John on April 10, 1915, she was a daughter of the late Harold E. and Lena (Miller) Northrup. A beloved wife, mother, Nana, and Great Nana, Doris was a gentle spirit who had a loving smile for all. She was a past member of the IODE, the CWL, and was a former Guide Leader. Doris was also an accomplished cook, gardener, seamstress, and knitter. In addition to her husband of 69 years, Doris is survived by a daughter, Susan Inkster (Tom) of Fredericton; a son, H. Raymond Kierstead (Sandra) of Sussex Corner; grandsons Christopher Gallan of Fredericton and Timothy (Shari) of Montreal; great granddaughter Samantha; step grandchildren Michael Daigle, Barbara Snyder, Denise Daigle and Jenny Greene and their families of the Sussex area; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Doris was predeceased by a brother and sister-in-law, H. Raymond Northrup (Branch). Although there will be no visiting, relatives and friends are invited to attend a celebration of Doris’ life, which will be held on Thursday, March 28, 2013 at 11:00 AM from St. Anne’s Church, Simpson Drive, Glen Falls. For those who wish, remembrances to the Rocmaura Foundation or any charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family, in lieu of flowers.
