Obituary of Marjorie V. Westhaver

It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Marjorie (McMurtry) Westhaver, wife of the late Eugene D. Westhaver, Q.C. at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Saturday, July 14, 2012, formerly of Turnbull Nursing Home and Fredericton, NB. Marjorie was the daughter of the late Captain Hugh McMurtry and Viola McMurtry-D’Arcy, born in North Head, Grand Manan, August 23, 1928. She and Eugene lived in Regina, Winnipeg, Halifax and settled in Fredericton for forty-six years until Eugene’s illness in 2009. In Fredericton, Marjorie was active in choir in Christ Church Parish Church, in the Music Festivals and other music programs. She played piano and flute. Until retirement she was secretary at Priestman Street School, the high light of her career. Marjorie is survived by much loved sons, John (Carol Lane) and David (Donna Lange) of Ottawa; one sister, Selena (James) Gillies; nephew, Rev. J. Peter Gillies (Greer Stackhouse) and their children, Jesse, Gray and Emma Gillies; nieces, Susan (Michael) Wallace and their daughter Hannah and Mariann Stevens and her son, Bruce MacMillian; sister-in-law, Margaret Westerby and her sons, Roch, Denis and Aurele Parisian; nieces-in-law, Lynn Lavander, Cindy Westhaver, Kristy Bona and Daphne Westhaver. She was predeceased by her sisters, Marion McMurtry and Ruth Stevens. In keeping with Marjorie’s wishes cremation will take place. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 from Trinity Anglican Church at 2:00 pm.
